I'll bump this too: "Eliza Dushku Lures Joss Whedon Back to TV!" Dushku and Whedon are evidently working together again (she was Faith on Buffy), on Fox of all networks, and could be coming out as soon as this spring. http://community.tvguide.com/blog/TV...port/700000049 [/ QUOTE ] This is potentially great news. Thanks for the update. |

Re: Firefly
So yeah, for the record, a lot of you would've appreciated Serenity way more had you seen Firefly when it first came out, and then Serenity when it came out.
Though, I think still it is kinda overlooked in this thread, I happen to think it is pretty decent. And for those who saw it first, the greatest moments only have real impact if you saw the series first. So, watching it first kinda robbed it from you. "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar" Also, whoever said that Wesley whatever. Wesley is like one of the all-time most awesomest TV characters ever. That makes no sense if you only saw his Buffy episodes, but watching him grow and become who he eventually became in Angel is truly awesome. Of all the Buffy/Angel actors, Alexis Denisof is the one who should be working more. |

Re: Firefly
Thx to this thread, and the fact that I really loved the movie without seeing the show first, has led to download the whole series. I'm on ep 6 in 2 days, it's fantastic!
I hate TV for being so retarded... just like almost cancelling Jericho even though it also is an amazing show with an original plot (unlike the multitude crime->investigation->incarceration shows) |

However I have great "faith" (yuk yuk) that Whedon can work his magic again. |

Re: Firefly
This was the best show ever!!! But they used to show it on Friday nights so what kind of ratings did they expect??? I bought the dvds as soon as they came out and was soo excited about Serenity. I think I only enjoyed the movie because of the show. I think Josh was trying to cram 2 or 3 years worth of story line into 90 mins, but it was nice to have the story "end".
If he ever went back and did the "missing years", I would watch. |

Re: Firefly
My friend has been pimping this series to me for a while, so I finally sat down and watched it with her this past weekend. 2 discs in, gotta say, it's some of the better TV I've ever watched. Great stuff. (I've never seen Buffy or Angel.)
It's a shame it got canceled, but the production value for this thing looks really high - I'd imagine it was pretty expensive for network TV at the time. Funny though that the movie was budgeted at $40M production cost, tack on another $20M for marketing... feels high for what was essentially a broken series (and, that's like 2 more seasons of the show!). Pretty interesting "long tail" argument concerning Firefly (the $1M production cost / episode is way off though, my guess is it was around $2M.) -Al |
