Also a huge ripoff for the Mets. That's arguably worse than Kemp/Kershaw.

I don't quite understand why Mets fans undervalue Heilman. He should be starting for them since he's better than pretty much everyone in that rotation but Maine.

Actually, can Florida call trade-backs and give them Jard Camp?

Unfortunately for the Twins, none of you guys are GMs. Many of the young players listed here would not be worth trading for Santana straight up. Being a GM dictates trying to win NOW instead of in the future in most cases - so some team will almost certainly get raped trading for Santana. Luckily for me, the Mets won't be able to match the prospect packages from other idiot big market teams like the Dodgers. I could honestly see Kershaw/Kemp for Santana happening, and it would be the mother of all travesties(especially if it happened at the trade deadline and not before the season began).

Kershaw/Kemp probably only didn't happen because Colletti saw him play a few times on the Dodgers. If he had stuck in Triple-A, that trade goes through in a heartbeat.

He is better than whoever Willie trotted out as a 5th starter the last 2 years, but he's not better than Pedro, Ollie, or Maine. His problem is that he only has 2 pitches. His changeup is outstanding, but his fastball, while decently fast, isn't particularly great, and he doesn't control it well. That said, he was the only guy in the pen who could get anybody out in September. He's definitely not a scrub, but he's not the sort of guy who becomes untouchable when Johan [censored] Santana is being dangled. |

One possibility I was dreaming up was Pie/Patterson for Santana - as Pie would replace Hunter and Patterson would almost certainly be better than Casilla. Would also give the Cubs Santana/Z/hill/lilly which is ridiculous. But yeah, the Twins will almost certainly get more for Santana, which as I said is a joke. James |

Re: Johan Santana says he\'d waive his NTC, what could your team offer?
Heilman's pretty good. I mean he's better than at least 3/4 of the players on my little league team. 3/4 of the ones who aren't paralyzed.
[censored] Mets. I'd give the whole team except Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Maine and Perez for Johan. |
