Different channels and newspapers in 1985 were doing the countdown to when Pete Rose would break the Cobb hits record. "Only 27 hits to go" etc etc. Letterman chose Biancalana for the calendar on his show, "Only 4,178 hits to go before he has Ty Cobb's record!" Letterman eventually had Biancalana on as a guest and was asking him stuff about the everyday pressure of going after the record, the media hoopla surrounding him and the record, etc. |
