So I wake up this morning and hear on Canal 9 news here in Argentina ( A big major television channel here but I take all journalism here with a big lump of salt) that there might be a Ronaldinho to Chelsea move. They didn't give a transfer amount but they gave the value of his suspected contract to be 5 years and 72 million euros. This doesn't make sense to me as CL already started and (I think) he started for Barca making him ineligible but I just thought I would share this very startling rumor I heard. Anyone else hear anything like this? Other sources?

[/ QUOTE ]

That's strange. The story is on goal.com also. But I thought the story was old.

Sometime in late August, rumors were swirling that Chelsea talked to Ronaldinho's agent and were preparing to pay huge amounts of money for him. When Jose left, the pundits were even pointing to the whole Ronaldinho incident as proof that Jose's power was being usurped because apparently, Jose didn't want him.

Anyway, by the end of August, both Chelsea and Barcelona denied the rumors and everyone thought the matter was settled.

I have no idea why the rumors are coming again, although his "injury" may have something to do with it.

(This article says Roman wants Ronaldinho AND Kaka: http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=58055 )

Also, Ronaldinho did play in the first CL game.

TOAFK, he's just mad that 1) he's from warrington and 2) that the rugby league season is almost over, he's allowed to be pissy for those two reasons

what an asinine amount of money.

How [censored] dumb are the Chelsea board anyways? "We want to increase our brand around the world". [censored], why don't you try winning things for a sustained period of time.

Roman is a [censored] too. Use Jose for like 5 years, have ridiculous amount of success, both domesticaly and in Europe. Then you have a masive, world wide fan base. ManU isn't popular in Asia just because they had Beckham. Barcelona isn't just popular because they have Ronaldinho. Arsenal isn't just popular because they had Henry.

Arsenal is now the most profitable club in England.

Interesting nugget:

So basically once January comes, Arsene has the skrills to buy whoever he sees fit to buy. I am sure he won't spend a penny though.

he won't get anyone of any major importance in the Jan transfer window because they will be cup tied. you keep on forgetting this fact [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I think wenger is more then capable of finding a great player who isn't cup tied

While not premiership, Benayoun just had a very nice goal for Liverpool in the Carling Cup taking on three players and shipping it side netting upper 90.

i think wenger should just play FM for a while, then buy up like aguero, higuain, and any other crafty south americans who are awesome.

like millan and cardenas. that'd be smart.

this is very true, but since FIFA has made two european transfer windows, the Jan window hasn't seen that many massive moves
