Despite a couple of you yahoos who think it's fun to kick other fans when they're down ... let me say that I honestly feel badly for you guys. You invest a whole summer in a team -- a team with some really good players -- they make a big run to get you all jacked, and then douches like Brett Myers do this to you. It sucks to be teased year after year by a team that doesn't just seem to fall short every time, but they do it in ghastly fashion.
So I feel for you guys. The Phillies have some really good players and there was real cause for optimism this year, especially after they swept the Mets. Neither 3 1/2 out of the WC or 5 out of first is insurmountable, but they give you no cause to believe that the time you spent this summer has been anything but wasted.
