[ QUOTE ]
I saw the skateboarder guy clip on the news. Pretty nasty spill. He fell from 45 feet and when he landed his shoes popped off. In an interview he said he was out cold for a minute or two. [/ QUOTE ] When I first saw it I didnt know when it had happened and that the guy was relatively OK. First thought was this guy broke his back bad and I wouldn't be suprised if he never walked again or worse. |

Re: ** Official August Chat Thread: The White Swan **
We were watching that clip live when it happened. The dude's name is Jake Brown. He was in first place before his spill, and there was only one skater to go after that, and he took the gold and left Jake with the silver. Jake had nailed the first ever 720 on the first ramp on that jump, but you saw what happened on the second. It would have been, without a doubt, a gold medal run if he could have landed that second ramp. It was frightening to watch with the kids; my younger son asked me if he was dead.

[/ QUOTE ] thats not the attitude or way anyone in the x-games approaches life though. It was sick, but he did a great job of getting into a position where he could fall and minimize the risk of serious injury. When he got up the first thing he is reported to have said is "what happened? did I try the 720?" I could never do something like that, but its pretty admirable the drive and passion these guys have for what they do. |

He ended up breaking a wrist, and bruising his lungs; could have been much worse. He said he hopes to be back skating in a month or so.
