I hate stuff like that. I'm getting paranoid easily, esp. since I managed to be $1 in the green today after 8K hands since I returned there (i.e. I'm still down there overall) and had a very rough ride. But that's probably more because of the incredible amount of short stackers on 20NL 6max that will stack off with every pair and are 100% unbluffable.

I'm gonna guess a lot of you uNL crew don't check MSNL every day - thus may have missed this AWESOME post.

Should be in the uNL sticky imo

MSNL's ipokeder: Join me in my drug-inspired, inordinately belated poker epiphanies.

Read many times.

There is one section in this that trumps the entire post. I read this last night or whenever he posted it and he says something in there that I was told by someone who plays MSNL awhile back and it has helped me improve tenfold. I won't say it here because that would mean some will not read it and we all should. Also you should read the replies as well.

i've 6 tabled 7k hands at 10NL at 14BB/100 and that post makes me want to drop 3 tables just so i can rethink all the decisions i have to make.

i need some posts on hand reading and drawing. i have the basic fundamentals down, but i will HAVE to improve those two aspects of my game before i will take over 25NL+.

imo you can improve hand reading only through experience. but that means that you have to realize what is going on around you. you can learn it either by playing a [censored] ton of tables and seeing what people are actually doing to YOU (because that's the only thing you'll realize) or you play fewer tables and try to realize how people play in general.

The thing with hand reading is that it is only as good as the actions that go with the read.

For example, I quite often put someone on a worse TP or on a draw, but still I fail to vb in the former case or bet to protect in the latter. Or I get the 2 slightly mixed up and control when I should be protecting or visa versa. So even if the hand read is right, if you are uncetain for example how to weight ranges, you can screw up.

i suppose i should also throw hand ranges into that as well. ;-) i think about what cards the opponents could have, but still heavily play my two cards, but that also has to do with me being at 10NL and not being required to use higher level thinking to beat the game.

if someone is interested in swapping 10-15 hands at a time from a database to practice hand reading, im down.
