Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Question: What do you do with this lineup now? I mean is victorino going back to his spot in the 2? Burrell's OBP and power are too good to go back as far as 6 i think.. Does he bump rowand back? or should vic stay back at 6? [/ QUOTE ] I think I'd just put him at 6 for now. I can't see bumping anyone in front of that at this point. [/ QUOTE ] And, yes, Nunez should be in late innings for def purposes. Iguchi first pinch-hitter off the bench with Dobbs/Coste behind him. Helms diagf. |

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
What do you guys think makes this season different than past seasons? For practically all of the past three years the Phils have been in the race.
Even two years ago (I think) we finished one game behind the Stros, yet much of the focus on the team was gone by the time the Eagles first game rolled by. I don't think that's the case this year. Is it the makeup of the team? |

But damn it this is the year. Of course this is the first year I think they just don't have the team to make a run in the playoffs. The last two years I really thought if they could only get in they would be golden. Last year with the starting pitching and two years ago with Urbina and Wagner at the end. This year I can't see the pitching holding up in the playoffs. I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. Come on one time. |

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
I think this is just a really likeable team. The past couple years have always had big question mark decisions, like the Thome situation, whether Howard would be good, why Burrell sucked so bad.... This team hustles their asses off, are relatively young, and easy to like. Utley, Rollins, Howard, Victorino, Hamels are good players that play hard. I think thats a big reason.
I think Rollins saying the phils were the favorite also made it a much bigger deal this year, although I hated him for doing it. The braves not winning every year can change a lot, and we are starting to see that. Mainly though, Utley and Hamels are demigods. |

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
It's that everyone on the team has been hurt except Burrell and Rollins, and yet they keep playing their asses off and are still in there. It's remarkable. Reminds me of the 2001 Sixers, where everyone was injured in the playoffs yet they played their hearts out and made the finals. The city loved that team.

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
I mean, this does have to be our worst team in a few years, right? Similar offense, worse pitching. But with the resurgence of Burrell, the emergence of Werth, Dobbs, and Ruiz, and the varaiance in baseball, anything is possible. I do agree that this team is extremely likable. Even Manuel is starting to grow on me.

[ QUOTE ] Great series I have to hand it to the Phils, but there is NO way that they'll win the division anyway. [/ QUOTE ] I'll take 50-1 odds for $10 on that, since you prescribe a 0.00% chance to that outcome. Thx. [/ QUOTE ] OK, more like a 5% chance. Philly fans that I know are acting like they pretty much have it wrapped up at this point. |
