Gobbo, you're an inspiration to a lot of people. Congratulations!!!! I recall your ranting post of frustration in December and we tried to connect briefly as I wanted to point out all the things you have going right for you. Surely they're more obvious to you now and I hope you're somewhere relaxing and wearing the smile you deserve. And if where you are still feels a little short of your goals and you need to feel like you've made more progress in that time than others, hit me up I have a life story of reversion to the mean that will at a minimum make you say, "Yikes, glad that isn't me as I gotta get back to getting first the next time around."

Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

the most likely cause for what he said is probably because he just think jimmy sucks and is a maniac, and is bitter about doubling up and going busto in the tournament.

Eh, I don't know Haralabos, but I can excuse him for these comments. He was emotional after getting knocked out. He was crippled by Jimmy, and if Jimmy gave a loud "SHIP IT" after hitting his flush on the turn, I'm sure HV was annoyed. And I'm sure HV wasn't the only player that left Melbourne thinking Gobbo was a terrible player.

Anyway... great job, Gobs. Keep running good.

So you say "Jimmy was a horrible player"

Not "I'd rather be anyone than Jimmy, he's a messed up kid"

Your reasoning sucks.

A visual representation of what my exit interview would have looked like...

That being said...
I think Gobbo handled himself very well.

By the way, mtg has almost nothing in common with D&D. There are probably quite a few guys on this forum, and other thinking players, who've learned strategic concepts from Magic and brought them to poker the way some older players did with backgammon or chess. Just ask Dave Williams or Eric Froehlich or a bunch of other guys.

In all fairness, I'd rather be Haralabos than all of them for one reason:

Who cares. Jimmy has the monies and he'll have so many FT's in the near future, that no one would be able to deny him.

Meh. He (Haralabos) probably does think Jimmy is a messed up kid. Does Jimmy care what HV thinks? I doubt it.

You could be right. I just try to be forgiving/understanding. Like Shaniac, if Gobbo let out a "SHIP IT" after a river suckout to knock me out of a tournament I think I can win, I would be quite pissed... then eventually cool off and let it go.
