[ QUOTE ]
Watson's been shoveling this sh*t for years. He might be an eminent scientist, but he's also a bigot. To wit:

"In 1997, he told a British newspaper that a woman should have the right to abort her unborn child if tests could determine it would be homosexual."

"He has also suggested a link between skin colour and sex drive, positing the theory that black people have higher libidos, and argued in favour of genetic screening and engineering on the basis that 'stupidity' could one day be cured. He has claimed that beauty could be genetically manufactured, saying: 'People say it would be terrible if we made all girls pretty. I think it would great'."

"He said there was a natural desire that all human beings should be equal but 'people who have to deal with black employees find this not true'."

Why should anyone take anything this man has to say about race seriously?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because his policy recommendations about his fact finding aren't related to the quality of his facts. I have no studied his findings but dismissing them because you don't like his conclusions doesn't mean that the underlying facts are not correct.

I'm not commenting on his findings, I'm only pointing out that reason requires us to separate our judgment of his findings from our judgment of his reaction to his own findings.

I just browsed at a couple of IQ tests on the web. One of the questions on one of the tests was:

Which city is the odd one out?
London
Paris
Frankfurt
Madrid

I think it's likely London, since it's the only one not in continental Europe. Or maybe London because it's the only one not containing an "r." Or perhaps Paris because it's the only one that does not contain at least one particular letter twice. More likely, though, it's Madrid because it's the only one in which an "s" is prounounced with a lisp.

nice try with that last joke :P....but you got it wrong.

andalucia is where they pronounce c's and z's with a lisp. no s is pronounced with a lisp anywhere in spain as far as i know from my travels there.

and madrid isn't one of those places. they spoke much less lispy spanish than those from barthelona or andaluthia.

To say nothing of this specific study, just keep in mind..

Nobody likes science if it disagrees with what they WANT or NEED to believe.

I could rattle off the hundreds of famous examples but I won't bother.

That's true, but in this case the science of race and intelligence just isn't very good, and Watson is far from an expert on it.
