fluff,

When you fill out the form, don't forget to write down a couple of sizes smaller than normal for your polo size.

Tuq are you saying that you can order mixed drinks from the cart girl?

there is only 1 course I play at that has a cart girl, but the alcohol choices are Bud Light and Heinekin keg cans

At some nicer courses, the drink cart is like a mini-bar (complete with the little liquor bottles). We were playing at Half Moon Bay (CA) and my cousin got a cigar and a Bloody Mary from the drink cart.

Fluffpop,
I was on a golf trip and a cart girl at one of the courses had no clue about anything in golf. It made her look stupid, she works on a golf course and is clueless. She said, 'How is your game going' and I could have said, 'god damnit, i birdied the last three holes'. She would have probably thought I was having a bad day.

So ask how they are playing, not how their game is going. Eagles, birdies and pars are good, bogeys are bad. Three-putting is bad, shanks are bad too.

Cart girls are on basically every public and many private courses here in town. Why all the private courses don't have them I don't know; perhaps they consider them distasteful or something.

Almost all have a full bar setup. Some use those little airline bottles of liquor, but many actually have fifths of liquor on their cart to pour from.

There are some here in town that don't have a full bar, beer only, but I would say the overwhelming majority do. I'm surprised this isn't standard everywhere. They also have them in the courses in the Palm Springs area that I've played, so I know it's not against CA law or anything to serve the hard stuff.

Ya but see, this is why I'm kind of worried - what if them not carding me//asking me during the first interview means that I won't be serving alcohol (and therefore won't be getting good tips?) I guess I'll know on Monday

[/ QUOTE ]

The only courses that wouldn't have you serving alcohol are ones that (a) hate money or (b) don't have a liquor license. I haven't found a course that falls into either category yet. You'll be serving, guaranteed.

Even if by some fluke you're not, you'd still make good money. I rarely drink during the round but still tend to give the cart girls at my home course $3 for a $1.25 bottle of lemonade because they are friendly and tolerate the quiet admiration of their physical gifts by golf slobs like me.

I LOVE my cart girl. Crushing, in fact.

I suggest you learn just enough about golf and the games guys play to engage in a little soft banter/ribbing. I love that.

As you learn more about golf, always be sure not to stomp on the gas the millisecond after contact with the ball. I know you're watching my shot, and if I know you're going to jam that pedal into the floor and roar the 2-cycle engine while the ball is still on the clubface, I subconsciously expect it and will jab at the ball accordingly.

Yes, Im a nervous, touchy golfer.

Yes, I want to impress my cart girl. if you say Nice Shot! I will always like you.
