Default Re: Razz -- worst hand wins on Absolute

Sorry, all unpaired hands beat all paired hands. All one-pair hands beat all two-pair hands.

AA is the lowest pair. AA973 beats 44752.

The rules of razz are well-established everywhere except Absolute, apparently.

Even if AA where the highest pair (it's not, it's the lowest, right above KQJT9) hero doesn't have to play AA, he could play 33 which beats 44.

And no, this is not in question. Hero's hand is the winner by anyone's standards except, in this case, absolute's.

This reminds me of the couple who drove into the lake because when the husband said, "I turn left here, don't I?" His wife answered, "Right!"

After every five card hand, AA is the "best" of the pairs, might be a way to say it that is less confusing.

And, of course, this is not a moot point - this is the rule.

Now, who wants to explain suit rankings in terms of who has the bring-in when there are two Kings showing?

clubs - diamonds - hearts - spades
This is the order of ranking of suits in bridge, too, although I don't know if that means anything.

Hand rankings are as old as cards suits - ask any Tarot reader. And it is related because in other games, like Bridge, (as you know) spades are high - so in Razz the spade is the "worst" King and has the bring-in.

I know when I was playing razz at Absolute a few months ago they got the suits wrong too. Then there was Js and Jc they had the Jc as the bring-in. Now i'm gonna have to go search for a hand history.....

Damn. I only hand hand histories saved for 30 days and never loaded absolute hands into PT. I just cranked up a table and saw Ks vs Kd and the Ks brought it in. I guess that part is now fixed.

How can Absolute be so ignorant? Maybe their bring in tie breaker isn't based on suits at all. Maybe it's the first card of the highest rank to the dealer's left or something (which is how ties are broken between equivalent boards on later streets). If they want to change the well established rules of the game for their own site, then that's their prerogative. BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE THE [censored] RULES. [/rant]

I know I sent them an e-mail bitching about it and I got about as good of a response as you did. They quoted be the rankings for Stud and not Razz.

I've never played on Absolute and I see no reason to start now. If this were how they determined the bring-in, it would be grossly unfair to people closer to the dealer's left. You can go a long time without having the same high board in two places from fourth on. There are going to be matching low cards on third street a lot. But if these guys don't know what beats what, who knows what else they've screwed up.
