Gregatron,

Musial >>>>>>>> Brock

Musial is an arguable top 10 all timer and easy top 20.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I will concede that. [making excuses]I've always kinda thought Brock was underrated though. [/making excuses]

[/ QUOTE ]

True. The Cubs were shrewdly able to pry away Ernie Broglio for him.

Houston Astros

This was really pretty easy:

2B Craig Biggio
SS Dickie Thon (Bill James says good bet for HoF before injury)
1B Jeff Bagwell
CF Cesar Cedeno/Jimmy Wynn tossup
RF Lance Berkman
3B Ken Caminiti
LF Jose Cruuuuuuuuz
C Alan Ashby
P Nolan Ryan

Caminiti had his best years with the Padres, but who else would I pick? Denny Walling?

I hate batting Cruz 7th but I can't find a better place for him.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd think strongly about J.R. Richard as the pitcher, but I'd think even more strongly about making Ryan the pitcher for the Angels instead of Finley, like how another poster has.

Berra >^infinity> Posada

Royals:

1. LF: Amos Otis (I'm assuming this is his younger days to lead off)

2. CF: Carlos Beltran (so unfair I have to pick between Beltran, Willie Wilson, Johnny Damon, and Brian McRae may have been the best fielder of all)

3. 3B: George Brett

4. DH: Hal McRae

5. RF: Danny Tartabull (he played by far the majority of his games with the Royals)

6. 1B: Mike Sweeney

7. 2B: Frank White (would be in the HOF if he was on the coasts)

8. C: Mike McFarlane (no huge standouts at catcher)

9. SS: Fred Patek

I'd stack that team against any except the Yankees.

The tigers

Kirk Gibson CF
Allan Trammell SS
Ty Cobb LF
Al Kaline RF
Cecil Fielder 1B
Lance Parrish C
Charlie Gehringer 2B
George Kell 3B
Danny Maclain P

Obviously I have young fast Gibson leading off.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hank Greenberg >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>> Cecil Fielder

Anti-semite.

[/ QUOTE ]

Also, wasn't Jack Morris much better than McClain overall, despite McClain's two big seasons? Esp. when you factor in for the DH?

I'll try the Mets:

SS Jose Reyes
3B David Wright
C Mike Piazza
RF Darryl Strawberry
CF Carlos Beltran*
1B Keith Hernandez
LF Cleon Jones
2B Edgardo Alfonzo
P Dwight Gooden**

*The Mets' other CFs suck. Agee, Mookie, Dykstra... we're just going to assume Beltran stays with the Mets at least through the end of his contract, making him legal for this.

**Seaver was also a consideration here, obviously.
