Raid on NYC clubs underway right now.

The bit about the noise and the lines was clearly made up. New York is loud, even at night. There wasn't a lot of noise coming from the building, and anyone living illegally in a commercial building would be pretty stupid to complain to the police about noise.

The police already knew about the place. There was some publicity the week before regarding the robbery on the other place, so they decided it was time to stage a raid. They brought their own news crew and made up a story. Then the news story is aired on the internet with an NYPD recruitment commercial preceding it. Awesome.

If gambling in NYC is not illegal, why are the players being detained, searched, and ID'd? They were not engaging in any illegal behaviour so should they not therefore be free to just silently walk out the door without identifying themselves and without talking to the police about anything?
