Trying to learn how to play Othello really well.

It's an awesome game.

Interesting - I was always under the impression that Othello was a solved game. I thought that there was a mathematically perfect way of playing that ensured the player who went 2nd would win. The wiki on "Reversi" notes that this is true for smaller boards, but the standard 8x8 board is a game in which 2 perfect players would tie. Ah, EDF - teaching me something new every day.

you'd probably enjoy Go much more... it's a lot more strategy and a lot deeper...... computers are pretty much on par vs. humans in chess... iow computers can easily beat average players and sometimes beat the very best... with Go... computers are pretty much hopeless even against merely good players

learning the markets and how to trade them day in and day out as deep as i can go. in 5-7 years i'll hopefully be one of the 4.5 (5-6 by that time) strategists for my hedge fund (largest in the world by total net assets under management)

my mentor is an assistant strategist and he counts as the 0.5

so my skill that i'm developing is both my job and my hobby. <3

downsides to this job are time spent travelling & time on the phone w/ clients &/or consultants we have from way back (they tend to ask reduntant annoying questions)

Go is great, it's just too daunting of a task to try and get "good" at it. I bounce from game to game though, of course.

I'm trying to learn a bunch about design, specifically type and color.

I also need to figure out how to show emotional investment while delivering a speech.
