But if, instead, you were to say "I want to work on my blind stealing%" OR "I want to spend 20 minutes a day analyzing my PokerTracker stats" then you are achieving something. Perhaps for some setting a WR goal is fun. I have no problem with that. But I do fear that most who are setting WR goals don't understand variance and are probably overestimating what they are capable of in the long run. I play >100,000 hands a month. I know what the long run is.

FWIW, when I set a winrate goal - say 5ptbb/100, it's mostly the same as me saying "I hope I play AND run good". I won't play 12hrs/day the last week of march just to complete my goal. It's all about how serious you take your goals. But I do agree that the goals should rather be of how to improve your game instead of how much you're gonna win.
