Looks like an awesome design just from these pics.

wifi + bluetooth + mp3 + 2 MP cam + thin + big screen for animal porn.

I've been waiting for this device for quite awhile, but wtf is with all this carrier exclusive garbage we have here in the states (or do they do that everywhere a new device comes out)? That's effin' lame esp. since everyone says that Cingular is crap...well, at least around these parts.

I bot 100 shares as soon as macworld was over. I wish I pulled the trigger as soon as Jobs announced it but was too engrossed in the whole thing. Bah.

$600 seems downright reasonable for ipod/phone/internet/digital camera

2 Megapixal camera. Don't get it for that last one. It still is a deal considering it's capabilities. Anybody see any mention of how much the plans might cost? How much are the plans for Treos and stuff?

[/ QUOTE ]

the treo/blackberry plans are expensive, but not many consumers actually buy them

I don't know much about this, but am starting to research smartphones. Can you expand on this?

Surprised that they are still trying to use iPhone. Thats going to be an expensive lawsuit.

Apple and Cisco apparently reached an 11th hour agreement to license the name last night.

It's a GSM Quadband phone. I imagine that there will be unlocked versions on e-bay about a day after it goes on sale.

Did anyone else get a little wood when this was announced?

the vast majority of people using these devices for email are on corporate plans paid by somebody else. any lawyer or banker or analyst or exeecutive or manager or whatver user of blackberry's/treo...most of these people aren't consumers paying their own bill.

1600x1200 (or widescreen equivalent) is plenty for any photos i'd be taking.

resolution is not the reason why most phone cameras suck. one megapixel would be plenty for snapshots for sharing online on facebook or whatever. but they suck because the quality sucks. the lenses are [censored], they don't have good flashes, and the sensors aren't as good as those in actual cameras with equivalent resolutions.

2 megapixels would be plenty for anything except prints. small prints (6x4) would even be decent. but if the image quality is [censored], which it may or may not be on this particular device (i assume it will be), no number of megapixels is enough.

Do unlocked phones work on the Sprint network? I know they use a different technology (CDMA) so I am assuming they wouldnt? This is something you'd think I'd know after working for Sprint for 2 years.

Visual Voicemail

An industry first, Visual Voicemail allows you to go directly to any of your messages without listening to the prior messages. So you can quickly select the messages that are most important to you.

I might buy it just for this.
