Bodog pulled this kind of crap before. Wasn't there a thread here about how they didn't honor a bet on the WSOP?

[/ QUOTE ]

In their defense that was an obviously bad line posted at 40-1, and reopened the line at 4-1 which was still a soft line and accepted bets on it.

[/ QUOTE ]

was there a thread about this situation? link plz? I havent heard anything about it so im just curious.

[/ QUOTE ]

this happens all the time at sports betting sites. i think its complete bs that a site can post a bad line, then refuse to honor it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have no problem with them putting up and then taking down mistake lines.

But that is totally different than refusing to pay AFTER the person wins. Especially when the bet was made weeks in advance and they had ample time to change their mind.

exactly.

If Bodog's lines were bad they had so much time to notice whatever it was they deemed to be inappropriate betting or skewed lines.

The fact is, Bodog lost and they just don't want to pay.

They found two guys who most of the same bets on the same day and they refuse to accept that 2 different people discussed who they thought they should bet on.

What if 2 people were talking about the NFL (or more than two people) and decided to bet the max for a 2-team teaser and they both win? Does this mean that they don't get paid either because they made the same bet on the same day and COULD have just been 1 person who decided to set up 2 accts so he could bet double the max?

That's ridiculous.

And the fact that they froze the accounts, then reopened them, and THEN closed their accounts and took away the winnings is really ridiculous.

Bodog is REALLY slimy here and they really should reverse this horrible decision.

All that said though, and this is small consolation to NLSoldier and MLG who I feel badly for, but there's no way you should have done this and then cashed-out right-away and not given any cover-play.
The fact that you need to do that DOES suck.
But from Bodog's standpoint you appear to be jumping all over their bonus-system and taking advantage of it.

Cashing-out everything the day after you hit (or the week after or whatever) probably raised some flags and they looked into it some more.
If you both tried to cash-out at the same time then that makes it look WAY worse.
Whether you are actually doing something wrong or not is not as relevant. You just want to not give them ANY reason to look at you.

Waiting a couple weeks, then betting $100 each on a couple of NFL games, and then cashing-out less than half might have succeeded.

Easy for me to say now of course.
Understandable to want to get your $20k+ back as soon as you don't need it to remain on the site any longer.

But I've pretty much gotten in the habit of doing some cover-play on casino and sports-betting bonuses if I think there's even the slightest chance the site will feel I have been taking advantage of them. And since I don't really pursue crappy bonuses this pretty much means that I always have that feeling that they might determine I'm taking advantage of them.

Also - I was interested in playing and betting at bodog some.
There's no freaking way I'm touching it though unless I hear that Bodog has cleared up this situation.

At some point, Bodog is going to have to become aware of this thread and may read what I'm writing.

Dear Bodog - You have scared off a number of 2+2'ers with this awful decision.
They won the money fair-and-square and should at least be paid for the elections bets they made. They could have lost one of those bets afterall. They just got lucky and didn't.

I think they are deserving of the bonus money as well as they cleared the necessary amount of play per YOUR terms-and-conditions to earn the bonus.

But lets at least just start with the election bets which they clearly deserve to be paid on.

That's good advice for a real syndicate but 20-20 hindsight for honest players who don't even know about each other.

Microbob,

Thanks for the great post as usual.

I seriously thought about giving them some cover play and actually my original plan was to keep the profits in there and start learning about sports betting, but after they froze my account the first time I was turned off to the point where I wanted to get it all out as fast as possible.

i bet 4 football games a week for the 3 weeks around the election, just because i had the money in there. i also started playing on their poker site, and only attempted to cash out half of my money intending to leave the other half for a while, play some poker, and learn a little about sports betting and not be a total jackass about the bonus money.

If you made a 20k deposit via Neteller, you would have to wager 3x the deposit + bonus or 66,000. Wouldn't this have been a problem at cashout??

I stand corrected then as it sounds like you pretty much were doing everything right.

Easy to see in retrospect but would be kind of tough to envision that they would have such a problem with 2 different guys depositing and betting heavily on the same day.

Is this specific situation being discussed in the sports-betting forum also?

youtalkfunny actually worked at an online sportsbook so he might have an idea or two about this (as well as some of the other sportsbetting guys like Homer, etc).

As far as I know to clear the 20k bonus you had to run 10K worth of bets through their site.

I thought I bet on enough elections to make this happen but when I was cashing out they infrormed me I would only get like 1,800 of the bonus so I must have been a little short of the 10k.
