To follow-up. I called Melissa and found out that she's busy at the hospital because her boyfriend lost his leg in a motorcycle accident last week.

Didn't realize she had a bf since we'd hung out in a group 3 times and he was never around and she flirted like hell. Oh well.

You could have nailed her anyway, that's why she hadn't told you anything about him. Then he lost his leg and she felt guilty. No dice, unless the BF does something mean enough to piss her off, which seems doubtful. Bad beat, you couldn't help it.
