Yeah the worst thing that coulda happened was the Padres getting totally owned by the Rockies at home. It's contributing to one of the greatest baseball stories ever, namely the Rockies winning eleventy million games in a row at the end of the season to make the playoffs.

At least Webb is throwing tomorrow. But I get nervous of games up there since they seem to end up 14-11 no matter who is on the mound.

The Rockies have killed Webb this year.

Short term variance.

I hope.

Actually BWebb's BAPIP is .286 this year, but .333 in Coors Field, so that indicates a bit of bad luck. Of course the Rockie's BABIP in Coors field is .331, so maybe not. Interestingly the Rockies OPS vs. Webb in Coors (.851) is almost identical to their season long OPS in Coors. Clearly Webb's OPS against should be lower than their season average given his abilities, but it's not like he's getting mashed any worse than any other pitcher. They hit righties a bit better than lefties, but it's not a huge difference and shouldn't account for his bad outings. In his career he's actually pitched well in Coors, his OPS against is .747.

So, hopefully variance. And hopefully we score a ton of runs.

Webb vs. Francis and Capuano vs. Maddux, just finish this [censored] off tonight. Diamondbacks are the only reason I'm still paying attention to baseball games!

Webb has an ERA of >3. That despite what, 47 consecutive scoreless innings? Can someone tell me what his ERA is if you remove that streak? I was surprised to see it was that high.

And I'm crapping myself. This could turn into a nightmare scenario. Lose a series to the lowly Pirates, go to Coors field to face the red-hot Rockies who are right in the thick of things now.

Sinker balls don't sink very well in Coors. See : Mike Hampton.

Note: I could be completely wrong about this.

Actually, I think breaking balls just break less overall in Coors, it isn't anything special about sinkers.

Well yes, I was just pointing out evidence of Webb's ineffectiveness at Coors as being possibly something else other than variance.

Apparently not. DBacks in the playoffs! And still have the best record in the NL!
