I agree with you about 24 and Lost, and I would have to add Veronica Mars, Alias, and Sliders.

Murder One - Great first season. They changed the format the second season and it didn't work.
Under Suspicion - Unfortunately not available on DVD, but if you can ever see it, it's great, plus, knowing they weren't coming back, they did write an ending, so it's a great one season show.
The Honeymooners - Despite what everyone thinks, it only lasted one season as a show, though it appeared many times as a sketch on The Jackie Gleason Show. Perhaps the greatest single season show ever, though with an asterisk.

Murder One was awesome!!

I'm starting to realize I'm like the only person who enjoys season 1 of the Simpsons.

Season 4 is the clear peak.

CARNIVALE. Cant believe it wasn't mentioned yet. One of the greatest shows ever. If you haven't seen it yet, do so A.S.A.P. There were only two seasons made.

I enjoy Rome, but don't think it belongs in this discussion in the least. Same for The Practice.

Rome is the best show mentioned so far IMHO

Was Carnivale cancelled? I've never seen an episode, but from what I've heard it's one of those shows with 'deep mysteries' that build each ep. Is it even still watching if you don't get any resolution on these things?

I may be the only one here that watched John Doe the season it was on, and was pissed that they cancelled the show without giving any explanation as to what the hell was going on.

I heard good things about serial sci fi shows that lasted one season:

Surface, Threshold, and Invasion.

I haven't seen any of these..they are just "on my later to watch" list.
