I do a lot of the what if situations everyday. The only two reasons Ive ever been able to rationalize it are: an overactive imagination and not wanting to uphold expectations that others have for me (especially self-destructive ones). Thoughts on that?

Most what I have read I have thought of one time or another my question is this:

Do any of you have an internal monolgoue where you talk things out with another person inside your head. Like it is you but you say things such as:

"I'm hungry."

"Great idea dude, where do you think we can get one?"

Definitely. I oftentimes consider paying attention and reading the safety card and stuff so I'll be prepared to be like Jack Bauer when the plane goes down. But then I just keep reading my book.

I do this constantly when I am not actively concentrating on something else.

I have also had occasional urges to throw one of my children from a high balcony. I once got that urge while sitting with my eldest daughter on the lanai on the 8th floor of what was then the Kahala Mandarin Oriental. It was so strong that I picked her up, took her inside, and slid the glass door shut.

It was really, really creepy. I was in no danger of actually executing on it, but it lasted for a minute, easy and it was quite powerful.
