edit2: my method for "purchasing" the game has failed so far. i may yet be in the market.

no saving, one continuous turn. way too many hours. the [censored] got me caught against the edge of the screen and killed me with 3 full armor potions left unused! after not coming CLOSE to dying for the last 20 levels! arg!

Took me about 4-5 hours, no use of saves. Finished 502-4. The one gripe I have with the game is critical hits in duels. I died 4 times because I was using the amp up crowd feature to get more gold/experience (great tool for early in the game with lots of Charisma), and they come in and get one lucky hit.

My basis was Charisa early, which dominates. I also kept my Magicka moving up, and using those powerful spells to cruise through the last 25-30 levels. I had 5 Moltens (400-800 damage) and 1 Rejuv which gives full HP/Armor back at any time.

For strength builds whats better the hack or bash weapons?

Once stats hit a certain point, there are decreasing gains.
Str: 60 (best weapon)
Agi: 11 (can hit on first turn with charge)

Defence - doesn't seem to work that well. I think putting your points into offensive stats is better. With 1 defence, I do pretty well.

Vitality - useless. Armor is better and you don't need that much hp. Better to put points into hp.

Stamina - 3-4 is all you need. You have to put a lot into it for it to be useful. Get eternal stamina instead.

Magicka - get at least 20 for the full armor oil.

One thing I want to try on my next char is to go agi/magic w/ a high dmg sword and 2/3 whirlwinds. The midrange swords which is as far as I am right now) have a dmg range of like 24-500 and when you whirlwind em they do about 900dmg which is really 1000+ because armor normally gets knocked off on impact.

The only times I die is when someone has whirlwind and a high dmg sword, and they're always 1 hit kills. I had 300~hp and 900 armor and a whirlwind for 950~ 1 hit KO'd me.

Also, before tournament 2 I highly recommend going into the fights with swift sandals. With low agi and (probably) that weakass slingshot, swift sandals is necessary to beat ranged opponents.
