I think that good way to handle this would be to give Thevis very short penalty. I would have probably said "F**k s**t" too if my opponent got penalty in hup (hey, that would be good tv show, both players in penalty box! ), but of course there was big amount of money involved.

I don't think that ruining my tournament would be a good reason to ruin Thevis tournament too. But Poker Dome had stupid rules and TD gladly followed them.

Matt,

Read The Banality of Evil. It may just help you become a better person.

All,

I'm glad that incidents like this have done a little to lessen the effect of that idiotic rule.

Lotta,

If I were that player, I'd regret winning in this way for the rest of my life. How despicable.

Rad,

Wow. I always cringe when someone from another country relates a story like this about a fellow American. The PokerDome "host" sounds like a real jackass.

I don't know how I would've handled it ... On TV, Hot Lights, Maybe a Million Dollars at stake...
but IF I had won that way.... then YES, I would regret it the rest of my life. (If I had won the Million, I'd Still regret it, but not quite as much.)

As for the enforcing "Evil" rules...
Does "I Was Only Following Orders" sound familiar?

(In this case though, Matt Savage has a rep as being one of the best TDs there is. And the Rule change was the right thing to do, "Post Flop" so to speak.)

(The Classy thing might've been to play until he got even in chip stack and then waited... but ask yourself … what you would do?)

Not really. I agree with rAdve that the baller play would have been to immediately say "That's a f**k'n stupid rule" and then have the matching penalties and then come back and win.

But how unethical is the fast pusher? He's not breaking any rules and is staying within the poker rules to maximize his EV. That is the normal goal, right?

Yeah, I went to one of the tapings for this show while in Vegas a few months back, and the guy (I think his name was Grodie?) who keeps the crowd entertained was incredibly lame. Kept name-dropping, badmouthing people, and just wasn't the least bit funny.
