Todd F. Packer - Amazingly funny from the 2 minutes I saw

Dwight's shenanigans w/ ben franklin - extremely stupid

Overall, it was what I expect from the show; funniness, but some parts that miss.

Exact opposite for me. It's absolutely INCREDIBLE to me that people find Todd Packer's character not only funny, but "hilarious", "amazing", etc. Both his character and the actor who play him aren't the least bit funny. Dwight-Jim antics on the other hand are one of the best running gags on the show.

Packer was funny once, inasmuch as it was a cute nod to Anchorman in a way. More than that, especially how he was used here, just kinda pointless.

The real benefit of Packer this episode was Dwight's reaction, not Packer himself.

All - There is a deleted scene on nbc's website that explains why Toby wasn't in this episode.

Another character that I didn't see though is Oscar. I thought it would of been a natural part of the episode to watch Michael toe the line in trying to figure out which party Oscar should attend.

That's a great point. Maybe they feel like they've made enough of those jokes for a while?

Packer, like most characters in the American version, is modeled off a Brit character. Exactly the same; only pops in on occasion, is an ass, and the boss thinks he's s deity. And not very much funny.

Dwight's reaction to Ben Franklin could have been so absurd as to be lame, but I think the actor carries it off so that it works. It's absurd, yes, but Dwight wouldn't work as a character if he were all whack-job all the time. They've added just enough touches of humanity to make him believable enough.

Dwight's reaction was to Michael gripping his chest and faking his heart attack, not to Packer. It was concern.
