Re: More Bobo Situational Puzzles
[ QUOTE ]
I got it. The Yankees were stealing signs when they had a runner on second base. (The guy on second base could see the catcher's signs). Or the coach thought they were. So it was advantagous for the team to advance the Yankee runner from 2nd to 3rd. Edited for clarity. [/ QUOTE ] Zomg, You win!!! yay |

Why not just go out and decide what you want to do right then and not give any signs at all. Or make a very simple change to the signs. The first time the hitter gets a sign from the guy that the pitch location is away (most steal location and not actual pitches) and then gets one busted in on his hands, he will be less likely to trust those signs! What team/coach was this? I do not remember this.. when was it? |

Re: More Bobo Situational Puzzles
Players and coaches will sometimes figure out what signs the other team is giving and act accordingly. An example:
Team A has a coach that has figured out when the coach from team B tells his player to attempt to steal a base. The coach will then relay to his catcher to call for a pitch-out (a purposefully wide pitch) giving his catcher the best change at throwing the base stealer out. Some players when on second base will relay pitch location to the hitter (eg man on 2nd base puts his hands on his knees if the catcher wants the pitch outside, and on his thighs if the location is inside), etc. |

On May 3, 2005 Bob Wickman was convinced Michael Cuddeyer was stealing signs and intentionaly balked him to 3rd.
