Please explain to me why so many people seem to hate Dids

Dids and I have a history of slapfighting over low-carb diets, but my main reason for not being a fan is the clique-ish "humor" and him calling everyone who disagrees with him stupid, despite his own inability to see flaws in arguments he makes or admit it when he's wrong about something.

That said, I think he's a decent mod, and not a bad guy at heart. We're just not the kind of people that would get along IRL or on the internet, which is fine. No hate, just not my style.

Also, I think that I, and a lot of other people, would have a lot more respect for him if he didn't let people constantly abuse him over his weight. By not putting the smack down he's made it into an issue that shows up literally every single time he posts, or every single time his name is brought up. It's very frustrating because (1) it derails whatever's at issue in the thread, and (2) it's sad because it's like when you've got a friend who's a good guy but puts up with getting smacked around just so he can be a part of the group. Also, having lost a tremendous amount of weight myself, I know the frustration of being in that situation and I know how badly everyone treats you, all the time. If you don't bring down the hand of god on people they will take every shot they can to help calm that sick, sad, pathetic, hurting, weak, confidence-lacking thing in the back of their heads that makes them need to abuse someone for their physical being, rather than the content of their character.

And when you take that abuse over and over and over and over again for your whole life, it becomes a pattern of behavior that holds you down in everything you do, no matter how much you say that it doesn't matter. It also makes people think that that kind of behavior is alright, and it's not.

Also, this thread reminds me of why Phil's one of the only people I have on ignore. Just reading people's responses to his posts (where his text is quoted, obv) - that guy's seriously a troll.

Bob - Dids is a wonderful guy in real life. Online his responses can be a bit caustic, but then again so can ours so I can relate. Dids is good people in the end, and thats all that matters. F the haters, he works hard to make 2+2 a better place. Now if he only played poker...
