Well, it's true that he provokes people. And those drunken frat boys were pretty drunk.

But there's a lot more there, IMO. At the rodeo, the crowd continues to cheer for some pretty ridiculous statements until they finally think, "wtf?" And the cowboy, who is not drunk or provoked, who just offers up his opinion that gay people should be rounded up and put in jail (or worse, I can't remember exactly what he said.)

The guy is just a genius at exposing ignorance and hypocrisy IMO. There's an episode of Ali G where he's playing the Austrian fashion guy (Gunter? I can't remember his name), and he's hanging out with these guys on a college wrestling team.

He gets them to do all this really gay stuff, like take off their shirts and flex, moon the camera, etc... then he finally says, "say hi, you're on Austrian Gay TV!" and one of the kids flips the [censored] out. Yeah buddy, showing off your muscles and ass with a bunch of dudes in a "straight" context is fine until someone mentions the word gay. Then it's like, "I better kill someone because he made me look gay."

FIrst time seeing Anchorman, I thought it sucked. Time after time, it does get funnier, especially all the little things. Borat was hilarious when first viewed, but I really have no desire to see it again.

Anchorman and it isn't very close for me.
Borat was always my least favorite character on Ali G, I found him hilarious, but I always found Bruno>Ali G>Borat I know my opinion is very unpopular in this regard. Also based on what I heard before hand I expected Borat to be incredible, so it didn't live up to my unreal expectations.
The "social commentary" in Borat isn't that spectacular people are stupid/ignorant/bigoted/uncomfortable being confronted by strangers.
Also based on this thread and the TV sitcom thread in ELDF it's kind of scary how similar Dids' sense of humour is to me.

[/ QUOTE ]I think that's irrelevant. I'd definitely recommend Borat to friends over Anchorman who have seen neither and for some reason can only watch one of the two. But if I had to watch a movie by myself 5 times, it would be anchorman.
