I am playing an international master this weekend and am white so I am obviously a substantial underdog.

I'm not familiar with either of the openings you proposed, but I voted for the second one because the first one sounds weirder.

Yea f4 is funny. Maybe you could try even 4.cxd5 in the game as the usual e5 idea for Black doesn't work. Too bad you lost the game, at least you got the moral draw I play on ICC too by the way (and am in punter's rating class in reality)

Whether you play chess or not, feel free to vote. I am a boshielocki duhferbuger and am orange (my pillkay rating is about 6x20EE2 SATA II 3GB/s, so I am obviously really substantially differentiated). He plays the baroque hyungdaddy and the hooflucksre. I will either buy a jungle gym for my dogs or move the house doodzilal velimirovic or communist manifesto read top gun. I am generally admitted to a public college but play both the italian currencies were saved by the euro and the bungmaster extensively as green, so I am comfortable with my sexuality and my cats. OMG, I really did get tears reading this and I can barely breathe. On extremely rare occasions my laugh a higher pitch type of "oh god, I can't breathe" noise that I absolutely cannot control.
I believe the last time I laughed like that was at a Steven Wright concert I attended in 2001.

That post was so ridiculously awesome.

In other news - Punker, I'm assuming this is a tournament somewhere?
Full report please.

I was a lowly 1400 USCF in the 90's but liked to play in occasional tournaments.
I got paired in some weekend swiss in Washington DC against some guy who was 2300 or so.
Somebody had told me one of the wacky variations of the Wilkes-Barre and I decided to try it.
Somehow he took the bait and I was significantly ahead at one point.
After I blew it he proceeded to show me what I should have done in order to beat him and he would have been mostly powerless to stop it.

Just having him on the ropes for a little bit was pretty darned exciting though.

I definitely agree that your chances might be better with a more obscure line. Unfortunately, many of the obscure lines are obscure for a reason, they're kind of inferior.
But if you can at least find something unusual that is half-way decent I would think that's where your best chances are of tripping him up.
if you throw some of the same-old, same-old at him then I wouldn't think you'll have much of a chance to out-fox him.

Bob, the last post in this thread was 1 year old today. Someone ninja bumped it. Maybe you knew that though.
