How do 20+ people with a say in production and a gaggle of writers not get how awful the lake/law office scene was?

I liked this ep alot. One of the funniest in the series I think. There was alot more focus on non-Michael characters than last time and I like how they're making Ryan into a guy who's failing to live the image he's presenting. If that makes sense...

I have friends who think that the over-the-top Michael Scott is the most hilarious part of this show. I'd rather have the writers and producers pander a bit to my friends so that they can reach a Season 4, especially when the alternative is to keep the show an underground hit and have it go the way of Arrested Development.

I think we long ago passed the point of keeping the Office an "underground hit".

I still think of the first two seasons as it being an underground show.

At the second (and deepest) level of Michael's brain, I'm pretty sure he knew he was driving into the lake. He wanted to drive into the lake to prove his point about the dangers/stupidity of computers. When I looked at it like this I didn't mind that the scene was so implausible. I did mind that it was still relatively unfunny.

Right, I think that's the only way you can look at it. Clearly he knew he was driving into a lake, unless he was blind. But I agree with you that we can be led to believe it was because Michael was dead set on wanting to prove technology wrong.

show was great. You all are haters.

I am very glad the show is one hour long(more like 40, but whatever).

So many funny lines throughout the whole episode.

TBH, the Dwight Angela romance ending is the best development IMO. I didn't enjoy that story much.

How has no one mentioned the Kevin calling Andy out on not being there for the Ryan-started-the-fire bit. Hilarious by itself, made even better when Kevin calls Jim "Tuna" later on, an inside joke HE wasn't in on.

I thought the conversation Kevin and Andy had with Ryan in the lunchroom was hilarious as well.
