I was just arguing because I dislike Kalmar. If it is 11 outs and I'm missing something because I am tired, NH. [/ QUOTE ] he's a very likeable guy - it's odd to hear you say you dislike him - you've probably never met him. such is the price of fame i suppose gogogogo Skalie !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

[ QUOTE ] They really need to update the chip counts more often. Every two hour isn't going to work. [/ QUOTE ] I think they said it's hard to get chip counts because of the color of the chips. Plus, they said it's hard to get counts @ the ESPN table because they can't get close enough. (Guessing the camera men are in the way.) In 2 levels, the blinds are 100-200K, so they will prolly introduce the 100K chip, which should make it easier to get accurate chip counts. (Isn't the 100K chip yellow? Hopefully it's not a variant of the color Orange.) Edit: I'm way too slow in typing up my posts. [/ QUOTE ] They may use the HORSE 100k, which wasn't yellow, but I'm not sure. And I mean sure, we can all do estimates too, but it's their job. They're following hand by hand, so they know all the details. |

Nguyen then turns to address the audience and says something like, "Welcome to the Scotty Nguyen show," and they all applaud.

[ QUOTE ]
Have they updated the chip counts after Scotty's last 2 pots? If not, he should be around 7.5-8million... [/ QUOTE ] Something is off on the chipcounts. The live updates have Jon Kalmar the chipleader after winning an 18.5 million pot, and the chipcount page has him in last place. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure he is a likeable guy. That doesn't mean I have to like him. He busted Tran, whom I was rooting for, and it is one more big stack that Scotty will have to conquer to make it through. |

[ QUOTE ] They really need to update the chip counts more often. Every two hour isn't going to work. [/ QUOTE ] They've explained that the delays are due to the fact that the chip colors make it impossible to eye-ball the stacks without getting real close. And they're not allowed to get close so ... [/ QUOTE ] All they had to do was get a good count at the break and work off those numbers by watching the action, they wouldnt even need to see the players chips or what colors they were. Scotty has been at 5.2 for the past hour and a half,I think he is up to about 8 million but who knows when we will find out. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What are you talking about? Not if Kenny is smart enough to not pay him off. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] There's a dead button. Kenny Tran in the cutoff raises to 350,000; Jon Kalmar is in the small blind and calls. Lee Watkinson is in the big blind and folds. [/ QUOTE ] 800,000 in preflop. [ QUOTE ] The flop is {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Kalmar checks. Tran bets 500,000 and Kalmar calls. [/ QUOTE ] 1.3m in and 500k to call. He's getting the right price with the nut flush draw. [ QUOTE ] The turn is the {9-Spades}. Kalmar checks. Tran bets 1,300,000 and Kalmar calls. [/ QUOTE ] 3.1m in and 1.3m to call. Kalmar now has a gutshot to go along with his flush draw. He's around a 3 to 1 underdog here against top set and he's getting 2.5 to 1 to call. If Tran calls anything on the river the call is correct, much less AI. [/ QUOTE ] Sigh. Your Ace is not a clean out, in case that matters. The real point is that you can't just look at odds on the flop and assume you are going to get two cards because you will very often face another bet on the turn when the board bricks out. I will defer any other beginner questions to others. [/ QUOTE ] OK, look, I was kind of a dick here, I apologize. You have valid points, and this isn't the worst play evar. But really after seeing this 1234123476 times it's almost always; ZOMG Suited Ace I call OOP ZOMG nut flush draw I check/call ZOMG still nut flush draw I check/call again ZOMG I hit I shove!!!!! If this dude is more sophisticated than that, thinking about implied odds and reads that he will get paid off and such, maybe his play is reasonable. I must admit I have no way of knowing. But it sure looks shaky. |
