Pretty sure you can change plans with same phone (if you bought the phone), but not change companies. I think some of my friends had phones they'd bought off of other Gaijin.

I had a pay as you go plan that I inherited from an Aussie guy going home who didn't need the phone anymore, but I never switched it out of his name.



edit: If you got the massive discount for signing up for 1-2 years service and didn't pay for the full phone, then you may be screwed.

yeah I signed up for a 2 year plan....

the thing is, the actual phone is under my possession. If you cancel a 2 year contract under a free phone, then you have to pay for the phone. But since I own the phone, maybe she has to pay fo the phone but I get to keep it.

You're not supposed to think about these things when you're in a new relationship.

You're supposed to just pay for whatever because it doesn't matter because things will never go sour and lock yourself into 2-year internet and phone deals, and then when things do go sour you have to pay them off because let's face it, she's never exactly been the breadwinner, even though she complains about not knowing who's paying how much and trying to equate things by saying, ok so I've been paying for the groceries, and you've been paying the bills, and working out that bills &lt; groceries, but hang on, I've been paying for the groceries at LEAST half the time, AT LEAST, probably almost certainly more, and I pay for pretty much everything else, but that doesn't stop you getting snippy when I don't have access to my money for a week and have to ask you for money to get takeaway maybe TWICE in the one week, like good God the amount of money I've spent on you doesn't entitle me to $10 so I can buy some FOOD to EAT to sustain my LIFE even though if I have to spend too much more of it with you I'll probably end it anyway, and let's ignore the fact that I spent $500+ on you last Christmas shall we, because that's not important, you greedy self-centred bitch.
