Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Zambrano leads the NL in wins right now. He is plays lights out the rest of the season and hits 20(I don't know if that's possible) does he have a shot at the cy young?

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
I'm not very deep into baseball, I have no idea what Baseball VORP is (I know what it is in football though), so I thought I'd ask 3 Cubs questions.
1)Are the Cubs for real? Or is there something that could cause the wheels to fall off? 2)Same Q:Brewers. I heard their infield is error prone, will that matter to the Cubs in the long run chase? 3)Some say Kendall is terrible, why's that? Last night's game was kind of a hint thought, but any stat reasons? |

1)Are the Cubs for real? Or is there something that could cause the wheels to fall off? [/ QUOTE ] They are a pretty good baseball team. Nowhere near their win streak now, but in the terrible NL Central they were probably the favorites coming into the year and with the massive payroll they should be alright. They're a good, not really great, team. [ QUOTE ] 2)Same Q:Brewers. I heard their infield is error prone, will that matter to the Cubs in the long run chase? [/ QUOTE ] Errors aren't that big a deal really, and the Brewers infield is so sick offensively they overcome this easily. So no. [ QUOTE ] 3)Some say Kendall is terrible, why's that? Last night's game was kind of a hint thought, but any stat reasons? [/ QUOTE ] He is, statistically, the worst hitter in baseball. And he is in the bottom 5 in throwing out baserunners on stolen bases, which is mostly how you should measure a catcher defensively. He is pretty much the worst player in baseball and actually has a lot of negative value to the team's probability of winning. Haha, you cubs got the Kendalol. |

1)Are the Cubs for real? Or is there something that could cause the wheels to fall off? [/ QUOTE ] Cubs are playing some damn good ball at the moment thanks to some solid starting pitching and great work from the pen. They were losing a ton of 1 run games early in the season and are finally finding the right side of variance. My one concern down the stretch is the experience and endurance of their two young lefty starters Rich Hill and Sean Marshall. It's a long season and both need to show they are capable of playing the entire season at the major league level. Both of these youngsters have a similar pitching style and I would like to see Lou throw either Zambrano or Marquis in between their starts rather than having them pitch back-to-back. I dont think there will be any offensive let down from here on out. |
