What do you guys consider "food poisoning"? Upset stomach/diarrhea? [/ QUOTE ] It's like pornography: hard to define but you'll know it when you see it. |

According to this data gathering post the average stats for a winning low-stakes 6-max player are 25/11. To me it sounds a bit nitty. Are these numbers off or what? [/ QUOTE ] those numbers are awful. the PFR is def nitty but paired with that VPIP that player amounts to a loose/passive fish. wayyy too much cold-calling preflop and/or limping. Those look like winning numbers from the days when the tables were filled w/ 50/25s that cant fold a pair, and even then they arent optimal. there shouldnt be nearly that large of a gap b/w your VPIP and PFR. |

Doh I though this post was recent.
Hey futuredoc didnt you got some good coaching from someone to make the switch from STTs to cash? Would you mind taking a look at the stats i posted on this thread yesterday? I'm trying to figure out what my leaks are besides being too aggressive on the flop and then giving it up on the turn. |

"um...here's a trailer or something, where peeps are like meeting about stuff or something"
Mine trappings must drive news photographers nuts. So many personal fears brought to the surface (pun not intended) following these stories...but absolutely nadda for the poor dude w/the camera to shoot. |

[/ QUOTE ] 3 things that jump out at me: you're c-betting 86% of the time which is probably a bit high IMO. Instead of c-betting just because you raised pf, try c-betting when the board and opponent are such that you can bluff profitably, or when you have a hand worth valuebetting. Dont try to win every pot. this is part of the reason your flop AF is so high i think. your river AF is too low, you are probably missing lots of valuebets when they matter most (b/c pots are bigger=bigger v-bets on the river) which is crucial to your winrate. you are calling or 4-betting vs 50% of c-bets which seems outrageous to me. especially right now while you're trying to fix your game just call/raise when you have a hand and let it go when you dont unless you're deep enough to set mine. If you're going to play big pots w/ marginal hands its best to have the initiative (be the one 3-betting, not peeling light and trying to outplay people postflop w/ just over 3X pot in your stacks on the flop. |

Re: OT: [censored] thread, August, READ RULES IN TOP POST
is poker a disdainful use of time?
My medical school apps are asking for hobbies and I'm torn about including poker or not. On the one hand I'm a profitable practitioner of a popular, colorful game of skill. It shows I have a fondness for real-world applications of theory, a love of adventure and a strong personality. On the other hand I could be seen as a degenerate gambler who could potentially be selling prescriptions to pay off loan sharks. |
