A pox on the Rockies and their annoying bandwagon fans (not that the D'Backs' fans are any better, but they're definitely less annoying). [/ QUOTE ] Well, here's somebody who's never been to atlantic city |

Re: finally gonna have a tiebreaker game
Chim,
You had NEVER made a post about the Rockies until a week ago. And acting like their management is awful is very ignorant. They've had very good Minor League development the last few years. Also, who have they let go recently that has shown poor efforts by the owners to win? I would much rather have my team spend their money on player development than spend it on Mike Hampton and Carlos Lee and Jason Jennings, etc. |

Why go to that hellhole when I have the glistening beauty of Sin City less than an hour by plane or five hours by car? I remember the last time I was this annoyed with fans: 1995, Seattle Mariners. They were probably averaging about 17 fans/game early in the season and then the place totally blew up when the Angels collapsed. It was officially the only time in my life I wanted the Yankees to win something, but they couldn't pull through in Donnie Baseball's final season. Luckily the Mariners got pozzed by the Indians in the next round, who in turn got pozzed by my Braves. |

No more than one month ago this conversation took place: Holliday wants a long term deal, will you guys pony up and pay him? A: We will never make the mistake again of signing a player for more than four years (referring to Helton as a mistake). This was ONE MONTH ago. As excited as the town is over this we still aren't sure this team will be competitive next year. I think they will have to pay and keep it together now that we made the playoffs, but we are still unsure. Fans having those doubts while their team is on one of the best runs ever is not a sign of good management. I agree with you that they have tried to develop talent, which is working well. They haven't had anyone to let go of recently.. the true test will come this offseason. |

And any issue I have is with the Monforts, not management. Sorry if I used the terms incorrectly before.

Re: finally gonna have a tiebreaker game
Having a policy of not signing guys to more than 4 years is not a bad policy. In fact it's a very good policy, and a sign that the Rockies have very good management with people who know what they're doing.

When they are asking if they are gonna make an effort of signing their MVP candidate they totally dodge the issue. What the fans want is a commitment.. something that even says "We're definitely gonna be in talks with Matt and try to keep him here".. Not saying "Well, we screwed up signing our last star!" Just want to see a commitment from the owners. There is no reason at all to say ownership has been good here. |

Re: finally gonna have a tiebreaker game
So you'd prefer an owner who would either lie to their fans or make huge monetary mistakes that will cripple their teams success in the future?
Ahh, okay. |
