We've been friends for a while and I've had an on and off crush through those years but either I was unavailable or he was so it was never an issue. Now he is recently single again (and saying he doesn't want to be in a relationship fwiw) but I am single and crush is back BAD and I think he's being more flirty with me but it's hard to say because I'm naturally jokey and flirty and he could just be responding to that because we're friends ldo.

I think that it's totally possible for a girl to be friend zoned, but it needs very very specific conditions:

1. Childhood friend - this is a more rare case where the chick becomes friendzoned, because this more often than not leads to romantic connections

2. Girl is uggo. This is probably the most common reason a chick gets friend zoned.

3. Dude who friendzones chick has 0 problems getting ladies and/or is completely apathetic. My best friend is like this and he has a lot of chicks that he would absolutely never cross the friend/romance border, some of them being very attractive.
