I got absolutely murdered in my match today. I give 11 strokes, but I was 6 down through 9. Bugger was only 3 over through 9 (which is basically near career round for him)...got it down to dormie w/ 3 to play at least

Finally broke 80! 38+39 = 77

After a sloppy start to the back, I eagled the 305 yard par 4 13th to get to +3 (first eagle ever; drove the ball to about 20 feet in the fringe, barely curled in the putt), and then missed a 6 foot par putt, a 3 foot par putt, a 4 foot birdie putt, and a 4 foot par putt. Making some putts at the end would have been nice but I am thrilled to finally get the monkey off my back.

My previous best was 81 and my playing partner's previous best was 76. He shot 70 (!), and we won our match 9 and 8 (!)

Wow. I'm tempted to think the course was super easy given those results, but if you trounced the other team like that it appears you both had career rounds and that is not the case. Now that you've broken that barrier I think you will be seeing quite a few scores in the 70s.

lol at "tempted"...dude gets his first eagle ever and his buddy goes 6 deep on his previous best.

Congrats though...if nothing else it takes that pressure off next time you've got a good round going early.
Lots of golfers make the jump from mid-low 80's to mid-high 70's overnight. Something clicks and it's really not that uncommon.

Bitcho,

Well, the other team obviously didn't have that easy of a time...

Are you really moving to New Zealand?

West Point, 43-43. Birdies on 9 and 18. After struggling to break 90 all summer I've done it 2 out of last 4 rounds. Putting has been better, as well as short irons. I hit 2 fairways yesterday and that's becoming a problem.

My other problem is *sick* high ball flight. I hit 6 irons as high as most people hit wedges. Not sure if its a problem or just how it is. Figure I'll go see a pro and if ok, talk to a club fitter about delofting my irons.

Easy course, but we've both played it 5+ times previously and in much better conditions as well - it was raining very hard at times yesterday. Some days everything just clicks, I guess.

Shot 76 today.
37,39.

Started out with 2 bogeys, pared all the way till 9 then birdied.

Back nine sucked. I couldnt drain any putts, and I just played terrible.

BTW the wind was gusting super hard, and doesnt help being on a links style course.

Sad part is probably my last round of the year.

GL 2 the rest of you on finishing up this year.

No full score, Silverstone in Las Vegas. Shot 43 on the first (desert) nine, picked up three times on the back, would have been up in the 50s somewhere.

I'd had my fill of desert golf by that point - played the MGM Primm Valley resort courses Wed and Thurs - and the wind was howling on the back. I [censored] hate playing when it's so windy you can hardly stand up.

Shot 79 with a few three putts. Hole looked like a thimble from the Monopoly game board.
