Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
[ QUOTE ]
Don't understand why it's so hard for some people. [/ QUOTE ] Well, with my sister, it's very easy. With my mother, it's fairly easy. With my dad, it's not easy. This is pretty much in direct line with what our respective relationships are like. Coincidence? |

But I don't for those that say "he just knows." As someone already mentioned, I'd rather look back and think I said it too often, instead of wishing I had said it at all. |

Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
My parents although very loving never verbally told us kids they loved us. So as a result up until last December, a few weeks before my 86 year old dad passed away I had never told him I loved him. And when I finally did, it felt strange.
And I still haven't uttered those words to my mom. But I'm a good son so I don't really worry about it. |

Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
Fairly common between my dad and I...actually far less common with my mom, but she's kinda crazy

Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
The words, "I love you" utterly fail to communicate the depth and breadth of the emotions in question so why bother?
I much more than "I love you" my family. |

Sorry I tried to help you understand why some don't say it and why some who do feel uncomfortable saying it. |

Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
[ QUOTE ]
Whenever I talk to him on the phone. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah pretty much anytime I talk to him and say bye. That's pretty standard in my family though. Everyone hugs and kisses and my family too. |

Re: Ever tell your father that you love him?
My dad and I haven't said it to each other very often, but he knows and I know. I have told my dad many times that I hope and pray that I am at least half the man/father that he is.
If my wife and I manage to raise our children as well as my parents raised me (and my sister), then we will have done well. |
