Kids are just little insane people, what's to like? They are basically uninteresting for 18 years, and then they move out. Try this, listen to someone else talk about their kids, they go on and on about soccer practice, grades, how creative and intelligent the little bastards are, while you sit there bored out of your mind. Guess what? They are bored out of their mind too, and this garbage is all they have left of a shriveled pathetic existence.

So Amp, how's your daughter?

The herd mentality applies here. Most people have kids and therefore they assume that everyone wants kids, or something like that. It sucks, but you can just try to not let it bother you.

I love my son more than anything in the world, but (a) I don't really like kids that aren't mine very much, and (b) it's a hudge time and money commitment to have a kid, so I can understand people not wanting any.

Live and let live.

I always knew I wanted kids. Mostly because I knew when I hit 50 I would want to get together with family. Being childless in my old age would really suck, me thinks.

I have three gorgeous adorable little girls whom I love very much. They are a huge time/money sink, however, so I have no qualms with anyone who doesn't want them.

What's with the massive guilt trip here?

[/ QUOTE ]

It turns out that some people are morons who will attempt to force their beliefs on others.

It's not super rare, I know at least four normal women (early-mid 20's) who say they don't want kids.

[/ QUOTE ]

I knew a few women in this age group back in the day who didn't want kids either. Now they all have kids.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this tends to be how I perceive things. I don't tend to take young women who tell me they never want kids very seriously (since whether or not this is an accurate statement is of no importance to me.) Although, I guess since this is a subject people change from no to yes on all the time, I tend to have a slightly dimmer view of people <30 who adamantly proclaim that they never want kids; it seems like the kind of thing where I expect some uncertainty to be acknowledged.

People who don't want to have kids because they think they'd suck at it, great. I'm not sure I'll do as well as I'd like, but I definitely want to try. I'm continually amazed that so many "western" nations are reproducing below the replacement level, and how much of it seems to be because hedonism and contraception are strong enough to short circuit biology.

See, I find this incredibly selfish and think it is a big reason a lot of people have kids.

Yeah, there's definitely such a thing as being too civilized, and the West is arguably there.

We don't need anymore population in this world.

The idea that the world is overpopulated is completely wrong and dumb and invented by environmentalists. Find a better argument pls.

[/ QUOTE ]

So we wouldn't be better off with less people on this planet?

[/ QUOTE ]
Would we be better off with none?

[/ QUOTE ]
The Earth would be.
