I wondered what got left on the editing room floor with Marcel too. He seemed very badly treated by his competition, and I was thinking in the end it was pretty much a given that his helpers would sabotage him. [/ QUOTE ] I don’t think Sam and (can’t even remember who) sabotaged Marcel in the final at all. Remember Sam wanted to work with Marcel. If you want finals sabotage, look at Season 1 when Stephen and Dave go out and get hammered the night before the final challenge and show up late; still hammered and half ass-work for Tiffany against Harold. |

Re: Top Chef 8/15
sam did try to sabotage marcel at the end, when he very assertively stated that the hearts of palm dish was entirely his doing. marcel - who didn't hear what sam said - in yet another display of integrity, didn't try to claim credit for the dish when he was later asked about it.
i'm not sure stuff was left on the editing room floor in season two, i just think ilan and sam are both borderline toxic personalities, skilled in the modern arts of manipulation and image management. part of what i like so much about this show is how savvy and smart some of the top contenders are, but they are also arrogant, ambitious, and not very nice, and no matter how hard they try, they can't hide their true colors. |
