Ni han, sir.

Love the story - a bit bummed that you and El D don't bother to call me for lunch. Next time, my man.

So what makes it OK if it is a Limo?

[/ QUOTE ]
- You generally hire a limo by the hour or day instead of by the mile, so its cheaper.

- If you're baller enough to blow that kind of money, why not get a limo instead of a taxi?

OK, you're in next time. I'll be back to SF some time in late July and will try to set it up.

It was literally a spur of the moment decision that arose when I made a joke with the driver -- "Daly City, but I really want to go to Vegas." In all seriousness, I was resigned to going back to stay at my mother-in-law's for the night. That'd be fine -- she's the best of all possible MILs -- but she has two small yipyapping dogs that I find rather irritating.

was that 1-2 limit or no limit? if it was limit, this wasn't degen, as you can obviously afford it. if it was no limit, it was degen since you rode in a freakin cab for seven hours to play in a poker game.

also, 7 hours from sfo to vegas? did you take the ferrari cab service?

If he got 6000 in on the turn in a 1-2 limit game with KJ on a 345K board, then he would definitely be a degen.

Yeah, let's be clear: that was a six-max NLH tournament where The Italian Pirate raised from the button. With 10,000 in chips, we were playing 100-200. In retrospect, I could have reraised with as little as KJ, given how loose he was playing. But I have an aversion to playing big pots OOP and so just called.

Max wasn't raising my turn bet with a made hand. I was 97% sure it was a semibluff raise, and I called the situation exactly right.

Amusing side note: I genuinely said "nice hand" to Max after he spiked the two. As I was packing up, he said "[Howard], you're a sporty fellow." I think his English is still slightly lacking; he meant "sporting," since I took the beat in perfect good humor.

Euro, slightly ghey footnote: then, Max gave me a man-hug.

All: apologies in advance for burdening EDF with poker analysis.

I'm beginning to understand why Howard used the word degenerate instead of baller. I thought the most interesting thing about this story was how much money Howard spent on the cab. But what Howard thinks is most important is the fact that he wanted to gamble right now and didn't care about how ridiculous the situation was.

Its not obvious to us non-ballers. $1k for a cab is a lot of money.

iron,

Fair enough. But really, anyone participating here should understand basic fundamentals of what constitutes "degenerate" behavior.
