limon,

you've been trying very hard to prove this point. and while I think the guys at the very top still love the game, there's certainly mid-stakes guys who do it for the money, and would gladly give it up for their expected winrate.

prove what point? if there is a point people are proving it for me. let me fix your post,

"there's certainly mid-stakes guys who do it for the money, and would gladly give it up for their expected winrate BECUASE HALF OF THEIR OPTIMUM VALUE IS ALL THEY CAN EXPECT TO MAKE AT THIS ENDEAVOR OR ANY OTHER THAT THEY REALLY DONT HAVE A PASSION FOR."

This is exactly the kind of thread that doesn't belong here IMO. I wouldn't have responded if it wasn't on this forum. Whatever I'm done, have fun.

I used to love it.

Then I began to hate it with a passion when I started putting in a lot of hours.

The grind made it become a job and then I no longer improved because I no longer enjoyed it.

You must really enjoy something / love it to be able to consistantly do it healthily.

The young bright poker players that think there is nothing out there than can bring them the same amount of montetary return per year have no idea how much they are missing out.

I would take the check.

I like poker only to the extent that it provides me an alternative way to support myself. I have gotten to the point where I do not enjoy the game a whole lot, especially online multitabling.

uhhh right, so where's the problem.

they're not shooting for the highest stakes. they're not gambling addicts. they've happened upon this game and think the benefits outweigh the negatives, so they continue to play - they might also continue to improve, get coaching, study hands, etc., but that != enjoying it or having a passion for it.

I have no idea how many online pros you talk to limon, but I can almost assure you I talk to more, and have talked to more. I think your point is probably much more correct for live games where it's easy to lose concentration, and you have no reliable way of measuring winrates/stats/etc.
