Re: Is Dave & Buster\'s a super ghetto place where you live?
[ QUOTE ]
Dave & Buster's is an 'adult arcade' like a Chuck-E-Cheese for grownups. Video games (lots of high-end expensive ones), pool, shuffleboard, drinks, restaurant. Right around when I graduated college in Houston they opened one there on Richmond (the main bar/nightclub strip at the time) and it was marketed as a high-end hangout place for adults. Saturday night I went to one in Milpitas (south Bay Area, near Elmwood County Correctional Facility and the city with the highest crime rate per 100,000 people in Santa Clara County ). It had a pretty different feel to it. [/ QUOTE ] We were there one night, and this guy was going off on Mazan: I actually found this game to be pretty fun. You are supposed to be a samurai fighting off all these monsters using the sword inside the motion detector framework. This guy had taken it to the next level, however. The motion detector doesn't require the sword at all, so he was doing all these pseudo martial arts moves inside the framework, swinging both arms, moving forward to parry, and doing 360s in place for style purposes only. Very entertaining... |

ot, JA:
Hmm, I had no idea Milpitas was ghetto. I thought it was like some high tech center or something. I thought Hayward and East PA were the only bad areas in the Bay Area. I did see that game, was pretty cool. Losers playing when I was there used the sword, though. I'm now excited about doing karate moves in that game. |

Irvine D&B has some very cute college girls pretty consistently. [/ QUOTE ] The one in San Diego at the I15/I8 interchange seemed to be the same way - tons of hot chicks. |

After being traded, Willis McGahee claimed that Dave & Buster's was the only cool place to hang out in my town. He is a retard though.

The one in Arundel Mills Mall in Maryland...definitely ghetto. It used to be a Jillians, but it's pretty much the same. White trash mixed with black thugs everywhere.

[ QUOTE ] 75 or 85 D&B? [/ QUOTE ] West Siiiiide. Don't think I've been to the 85 location. [ QUOTE ] GI, Charge for parking in ATL 'burbs? WTF? The one in Milpitas was free parking and no cover at 7pm. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, they came up with the bright idea of cordoning off 3/4 of the lot for valet, which resulted in a giant clusterfuck of people trying to cram into the remaining quarter for free. [ QUOTE ] Jillian's in SF is not ghetto at all, except a little bit on Friday nights when it turns from pool hall / sports bar into Asian dance party night. [/ QUOTE ] I'll be there on Friday. Prepare the couch. [/ QUOTE ] I have no idea what you are talking about. I've lived near the I-75 D&B for 8+ years and have been there many times, and have never had to pay for parking and never had to pay for admission. I've been carded in the past, but it wasn't a hassle or anything. In fact, I was there yesterday (personally, I love D&B...I even like the food) and aside from them not sending a server to our table until we asked (a first for me), I had a very nice time. The server who did volunteer to help us when we inquired, as we were not in his section, was very good. Unfortunately, as it was my first Father's Day, that meant the baby eventually got grumpy and I was only able to partake in three video games. I really like the big horse racing simulator, but I am baffled by the people who sit there with race sheets and binders full of horse cards. When I had a second apartment in Rockville, MD because of a consulting project I was on, I went to the White Flint location a few times. It was solid. This was back in 1999, though, so I don't know if things have changed. |

[ QUOTE ] and have never had to pay for parking and never had to pay for admission [/ QUOTE ] It's possible the "optional" valet was a short-lived experiment, I didn't stick around long enough to find out. This was 1-2 years ago. But the admission charge is standard for weekend nights (again, as of 1-2 years ago). |

I don't think we have this place in Canada, but it sounds pretty chill to me, I wish we did
