Look here's the deal. I don't know why people haven't brought this up.

The grass is always, always greener man. You miss those good times, the innocence, how hot and sweet she was, whatever, a lot of us have this story. But I'll tell you this straight up - if you ditch this girl, you are going to miss her 1000 times more than you miss or think about this chick from the past. That is a guarantee.

What's the lesson? We always miss what we had (whether it be for a moment, or years), the grass is always greener, insert your favorite cliche here. Just focus on how you feel about this girl - if it feels good to do this, to be with her, if you're happy, do it. If not, then don't. Thinking about some old flame is going to happen for some of us - some guys have that great experience that went sour, or the one that got away, whatever. But you have to do what you can to keep it from allowing you to move on.

My brother had an insanely awesome/cute girlfriend for like 3 years during and after college. She broke up with him and they went their seperate ways, he was pretty devestated for a long time. Its now like 7 years later, he is married to the coolest girl ever and has a baby\. He still talks to his old girlfriend and they exchange letters. His wife seems pretty cool with it.

you didn't have closure. it will come but it may take a long time and if it doesn't the feelings you have will fade away, likely very slowly.

it would be best if you got this closure before you got married, so there aren't any secrets, but this sounds like it may not be possible. in any event, you will be OK. one thing to keep in mind is to be very very sure your wife is who you want to be with before you have kids.

i've been in your shoes and i don't think its unusual at all.

So obviously here's what happened. She stopped returning OP's mail when she had a new relationship in the making. (Believe me, it's not like she didn't get the message. That [censored]'s intentional.) Now that she's in a 'safe zone' being married and all, now she can bounce an email back without fear of damaging her current relationship, especially now that some of the afterglow has worn off over time. OP needs to bury this one deep because now she's married and fat and chose someone else. It's not like she was swept away and pined after you all this time. You were hooked on her more than she was hooked on you. Your current fiance chose you, not Amsterdam sl00t. She's the one you really want.
