John Turturro.

Most casual movie watchers will recognize him, but very few will know his name. IMHO one of the best actors working today.

Not sure I agree here. For a guy with his, to put it charitably, less than top notch looks, he made it about as far as those guys can go. Everybody seems to know him. Where else would you picture a guy like this, really? Forget romantic lead, action hero, etc. I love his acting and always look forward to seeing him, but am having a hard time picturing him being a fit for the male lead in many movies.

You know, the male lead is often the least interesting character. Guys like Turturro brighten up any scene they're in.

QFT. I thought she would make the jump to XXX, but she seems content in the low glamour world of softcore.

Peter Greene

Probably best known as 'Zed' in Pulp Fiction. This guy is great in everything he does. I remember hearing about him having trouble with heroin a few years ago, maybe that holds him back some. Also, he always plays a sleazebag so would never make a leading man. I think he could very well come more into his own as time goes on as a character actor.

Good choice. Only problem with him is that I used to confuse him with Eric Roberts all the time.

I always thought Laura Dern brings an awful lot to movies, and never really was used properly by Hollywood.

And on a related note, Sam Neill.

The entire cast of Platoon, excluding Sheen and Depp. Every single character was convincing in that movie. Just strange.

Katheren Keener. Okay, I wasn't aware of her until 40 year old virgin, but I have seen her in other movies since (Into the Oblivion comes to mind) and she is very powerful on screen.
