I'm a Sorkin fan. West Wing 1-4 (if you are a true diehard fan, you'll go through 5-7 even though the writing goes downhill fast, they mess with the timeline, story histories get compromised, etc.

I didn't think the dropoff in s5 was too bad, but it was pretty brutal in s6 and s7

I have to get around to rewatching it

I vote for Arrested Development, The Shield, and Curb Your Enthusiam

S6 was ridiculously the worst of them all. S5 just got started on the wrong foot because their resolution to the kidnapping was soooo awful. But still, West Wing is my favorite tv show to watch and rewatch.

Since 100 others will say it too, I might as well start: The Wire.

This show seemed so slow to me. Is it addicting/has cool twists? It just didn't hook me after like 3 episodes.

Dexter is great.

Definitely a great show and as a bonus, the season runs earlier than most of the network shows, so you won't have too long to wait before Season 2. Honestly, this is probably my favorite active show ahead of Lost or the Sopranos.

If def takes a bit to get into. I didn't like season one that much, but just stuck it out. Season two was only okay to me, but again I kept watching, I really am not sure why. I thought season 3 was really incredible, and season for the best season of tv I've ever seen. Going back and rewatching seasons one and two I realize how good it is, and that I just could not appreciate it when I was watching it. My tastes matured a lot from when I started watching, to when I finished, as stupid as that may sound.

The most overlooked show by people in our demographic is Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Seasons 2 and 3 are the best things ever.
