brag: spring 07: 3.1 brag: cumulative through graduation: 2.9 brag: top hedge fund job variance: i better like the job, cause the 2.9 makes grad school out. [/ QUOTE ] Ummmmm no...if you work at a top hedge fund for a couple years and do well on entrance exams you could most definitely get into grad school. Don't fool yourself. I got a 2.9 in undergrad and I am for sure going back to grad school. |

Brag: Harvard Chem/Math major.
Beat: 3.45 Cum. GPA down from 3.59 at the end of last year Beat: Failed to establish good relations with big-name chem professor in a 6-person class due to late nights of poker causing me to miss my 1:30 pm class. Variance: Maybe I'll still get into one of the top chem grad schools? |

But paying for anything but an mba from H/W/S or a top-10-ish econ or stats phd just seems like a waste, and those types of programs will have tons of applicants with similar jobs and better academic records, even if i rape the gmat and/or gre. |

They're not taking gut classes either. Oh, and actually, it's not a double major, it's a 'joint concentration', so it actually counts as one concentration that incorporates the requirements of both a primary and secondary concentration, with some of the secondary concentration's reqs cut. In my case, chem would be primary and math would be secondary. |

Beat: Going to fail final I have tomorrow for a class that I got like A-/B+ on midterm and paper.
Beat: Even if I did well on midterm I'd probably get like a 3.0 GPA. Beat: Overall GPA after 3 years is lower than 3.0 Beat: Not good at poker so I won't have millions when I finish Brag: No matter how bad I do on finals I still only have three more days and then I can forget about them. Brag: Probably not going to actually fail the test, but it's in 11.5 hours and I would like to sleep so I probably should have finished studying 6 hours ago. I should also probably start studying now instead of posting on 2+2 yet here I am. |
