For all saying the Dreamcast, you're forgetting Sega CD. I'd also put up the PowerGlove as a hypemoster that died quickly.

I replayed Sewer Shark and Double Switch just last week. Corey Haim should star in all my video games.

what killed betamax is that the tapes only could record for 60 minutes instead of 120

[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. I cringe when people say that betamax was "technically superior" to VHS. If your movie format can't fit a whole movie and the competitor can, you are inferior and deserve to lose, even if you have somewhat better picture quality.

Regardless, betamax stuck around a little while and sold many units before losing, so it was definitely not as big a flop as some of the other things mentioned in this thread.

EDIT: Also, dreamcast kicked ass.

Matt and others,

Will we ever have a fast food burger with the hot side hot and the cold side cold?

Been there done that. Flopped it.

Damn shame, because every burger McD's tried with 'maters was actually pretty effin' good tasting, but a total bomb for other reasons (packaging, marketing, etc.)

Sadly, McRib was not the consumer bomb it deserves to have been. That crap continues to get inflicted on us yearly, as a special promotion item.

All,

While New Coke is the obvious winner here, I think the McDLT deserves a mention.

no way dude, it keeps the hot side hot and the cold side cool. i have taken this on as a life motto and words to start my day with. J.

p.s. i always thought that new coke was a scam too, that it was pre-planned to have coke "classic" regain its slipping market share from the pepsi generation. was that not the case at all? have i been brainwashed?
