Terrible commentating by Gabe tonight.

Why is it that every time someone asks for a chip count Gabe says "He doesn't actually care how many chips he has, he just wants to get a tell." WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought that too.

This kind of commentary always seems to follow one player asking another who many chips they have on TV. When I play in the casino I sometimes ask guys how much they have when they raise preflop, or make a bet or raise postflop that often elicits "oh you looking for a tell" nonsense from the player or someone not in the hand.

Commentators take note, a chip count is important information to have when making a decision in a poker hand!

Don't think so. I think the producers had this final table set to close out the season.

Indeed. Ivey raises 5bb behind one limper with QQ and that's not much of a raise, he lets Dee-agostino in with 74sooted and Daniel in with 64sooted. They're not calling with those hands because he didn't raise enough, Gabe.

And is Gabe not from NYC? Has he never heard a D'Agostino's commercial on TV or the radio? Maybe he and AJ aren't in the studio at the same time? How many times can a Brooklyn Benza be expected to stand idly by for that?

Yeah, this was very confusing....like to know what Phil was thinking there.

D-Dub bet more than pot into 3 or 4 other people. I guess Ivey just gave him credit for the overpair and decided not to play OOP against a guy who won't pay him off if a third heart falls .

Ya, I can't believe anyone questions whether it was a good fold, it was a good fold. And how does Gabe not even mention being priced out as a reason for the fold, and here I always thought he was an insightful/knowledgeable guy.

LOL Potoddaments

[/ QUOTE ]

In other episodes, Gabe displays a real ignorance of pot odds. There was some hand with Todd Brunson vs. Sheiky in a previous season where Sheiky bet like 28k into a 30k pot on the turn and Brunson called with a flush draw, and Gabe, who wanted to perpetuate that Sheiky was a bad player and a jerk, just kept going on about "Sheiky bet way too little here, Todd has to call because of pot odds, he can not fold", he just went on about how bad it was, and the worst thing was, Sheiky was short-stacked by this point anyway, so not only did Todd not have to call for express odds, he definitely had no implied odds either.

Gabe's commentary really really sucked this episode, he said some absolutely retarded things, which have mostly been brought up here.

Speaking of Sbrugby's tells, what's up with him covering his mouth with his monstrous hands when he's in some pots, but when he was just firing off a standard cbet against Daniel's set, he didn't bother, and then didn't cover up for the turn or river either. I wonder if we saw 100 hands by him if there'd be a correlation between him covering his face and the strength of his hands.

Also him asking Daniel how much he's playing is a tell that he is drawing, even though as noted Gabe has no clue about why he asks that. But that's just a common way to figure out if you have implied odds, you see people live doing that a lot with small pocket pairs preflop to a raise, seeing if they can call. Big tell.

God there was some other retarded thing Gabe said that I forget now noone has mentioned yet. At least this episode he didn't do his standard "now if _____ was to put in a nice big bet here, _____ would fold. Yes, a nice big bet here would fold him out for sure", which he does every show (and then in hands where someone DOES make a nice big bet in similar spots, noone folds anyway).

Oh yeah, that's what I was going to mention, that was again, retarded of Gabe. What does he think a standard raise for QQ is in that spot, 10BBs straight??

Best line of the night was when Ivey said something along the lines of:

"I can't help myself, life's too easy when you're not shooting dice."

Another good one was when Negreanu was trying to convince everyone he was 5'9" and change, meanwhile he is dealt 5d8d, and as he mucks he points at the camera and says "nice try."

I really wish Gabe would shut up. Most of the plays he gets so worked up about are pretty standard.
