mason,

Double-strap is king for your back and if you're laptop weighs more than 4 pounds.

[/ QUOTE ]

i'm not sure what this means.

but

i already changed my mind again since last night and decided to go with a messenger bag. i really like the olive one i posted a picture of in terms of feature (zippered main pocket, vertical are the 2 big ones) but i'm not huge on that style. i'd like something a little more outlandish.

but as of right now that olive one i posted is what i plan on getting for now. i'll probably put in some serious search time when i have time to go to stores and not just look for crap over the internet.

For anyone that wants to see some cool bags, go to lifehacker. com and check out their recent special called "Show Us Your Go-Bags". Based on this thread and that lifehacker series, I think I am going to pick up a timbuk2 bag.

[/ QUOTE ]

can you point me to which timbuk2 you're looking at? they all look so bike messengerey to me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mason,

I have to go check the site out again but I'm pretty sure I was looking at one that was pretty "bike messengery" . My problem is that my laptop is kind of the big side (wide screen) which sort of limits my options. I'll edit late r with a link.

yeah i have a couple backpacks for when i'm hauling lots of stuff and style wise i prefer backpacks. the problem is for day-to-day use when i'm just hauling a laptop and a few papers/pens a backpack makes my back and armpits all sweaty. i sweat a lot and it's something i have to consider.
